Meals

Each day, I serve one hot meal and two snacks according to the "Canadian food guide". I make sure that the food I am serving is suitable for all ages and I serve many different kinds of fruit and vegetables. Before each meal or snack, I make sure that the children wash their hands properly.

I encourage the children to taste each food that I am serving and to enjoy their meals. I ask the children capable of serving to help out with the cups, placemats, bibs and spoons for the other children. This allows them to feel responsible and encourages interaction with the other children. By setting the placemat down, it allows each child to have their own space and teaches them to be respectful of the other childrens' spaces. The children know that what is placed on their placemat is theirs.

I cook a wide variety of meals, including many international dishes from Lebanon, Italy, China, etc. I enjoy incorporating these different cultures into my daycare as we are such a multicultural city, and I feel it is good to allow the children to taste food from around the world. As I love to cook, I enjoy that I am able to cook different meals for children and provide a well balanced and healthy meals throughout the year.
